Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Updated: May 26, 2020

To Our Much Appreciated Client,

We hope that you and your family, both work and at home, have remained safe during this pandemic. It is truly unprecedented how it has affected everyone in some form or fashion. We will all get through this together!

We here at Unique Background Solutions have been practicing our social distancing and have not been reporting into the office as we used to. While we have remained open as an Essential Business and have continued to provide our background screening services, our drug testing collections have been altered slightly for most of you.

Our Great State of North Carolina will begin their Phase Two of re-opening the state’s economy starting Friday May 22th. This Phase will allow for many businesses to begin to open back up. Our plan is to continue with our current operating process with one change at this time.

We have all of our full-time staff back in place and when you call into our office, you will hear many of the familiar voices you have become accustomed to hearing. However, our drug test collections will still be altered:

  • Winston Salem Office – Now open. Call ahead for scheduling an appointment required.
  • Charlotte Office – Call ahead scheduling still required.
  • Mt. Airy Office – Call ahead scheduling still required.
  • Dobson Office – Remains Closed at this time. You may schedule for collection in Mt. Airy or LabCorp.

We understand the inconvenience that this may impose, and we appreciate your patience and understanding. Our staff and our donors’ health are at the forefront of this decision.

If you do have any questions about this update, or would just like to talk to someone other than an individual in your home, please feel free to call us. We are here to help!

To Our Much Appreciated Client,

To support public health and safety, we are offering a proven, cost-effective option to detect and help stop the spread of coronavirus. This test is available as Forensic/Medical Use only and must be administered by a medical professional. This allows us the ability to offer this device while it is currently not approved by the FDA.

How accurate is the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Rapid test?

Our test has shown in clinical evaluation to have a total agreement of 97.19% and a kappa value of 0.94. Clinical evaluation took place across 10 hospitals in China during February 2020 and included 704 tests.

Updated: March 30, 2020 To Our Much Appreciated Client, We hope that you and your family, both business and personal, are staying safe during this incredibly challenging time. We wanted to provide an update regarding our business and services to serve your needs.

  1. We are still open for business to handle your background check needs. We are all working for home due to our state’s Stay At Home order in effect through April 30th. There are many jurisdictions and facilities that are currently closed and this list continues to grow. We will keep you posted individually when we run across a specific request that may or will be delayed.
  2. For our drug testing clients – Our Charlotte office remains open at this time. Please call ahead (704-210-8430 opt 1) if you need to send an applicant. We also ask that you please provide our number to your applicant so that they may call us before entering the facility.
    • Our Mount Airy Office will temporarily cease it’s drug testing collections on Tuesday, April 1, 2020 until further notice.
    • If you need a drug test collection, you may email us at [email protected] and we will create a registration for your applicant to have a collection completed at the nearest LabCorp Patient Service Center. (The PSC are NOT collecting tests for COVID-19)
    • If you have an emergency situation regarding a collection, please call 336-575-7445.
  3. PLEASE ASK ABOUT OUR EZyAPP SYSTEM!!! This system is designed to make the background check process paperless and is the perfect tool to use during (and maybe after) this social distancing crisis. You can initiate an invitation with customized messaging to the applicant and the system will generate an email to the client that will instruct and provide the applicant to place their order for you. PLUS they will be able to sign electronically all of the FCRA compliant documents needed to perform the background check. Ask us for more details.

March 16, 2020 - Announcement
Our commitment to our customers and team members: Along with the rest of the world, we’ve been closely monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19. It has brought uncertainty and disruption to the communities we serve, but Unique Background Solutions’ top priority has not changed: the health and safety of our customers, donors and our team members. We remain in contact with local and federal health officials at the Centers for Disease Control, as well as the World Health Organization. Though the situation around the virus remains fluid, our goal is to meet or exceed all provided guidelines. We know the two primary concerns many of you have are the status of court closures and how they will affect your report return time and drug test collections within our offices. We are open for business and here are some of the proactive steps we’ve quickly taken to overdeliver on these guidelines:

  1. We utilize many of the official automated systems that are able to operate while the courts may be closed. This is not available in all court jurisdictions. We will continue to process what we can where we are able to confirm these records, both manually and through integrations.
  2. In an effort to minimize the community spread of the Coronavirus, we are asking any donor or guest to our facility to evaluate their own health before entering our collection facility. If they are experiencing any of the symptoms like cough, fever and shortness of breath, to name a few, we are asking these donors or guest to come back and complete their business after they have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
  3. We are requesting that each donor and guest to our facilities wash their hands or use our hand sanitizer to clean hands before signing into our office or completing any documentation. Water, soap, and sink will be provided.
  4. Current guidance does not support the general use of masks or other personal protective equipment by the public. Donors who meet established criteria as mentioned above, will be offered a face mask to help minimize the risk of spreading airborne diseases. If a donor is experiencing coughing during the collection or visit, they may be asked to put on a mask.
  5. While constant sanitation is a staple in our drug test collections facilities, we will sanitize our collection facilities after every donor’s collection. We have reinforced our Standard Operating Procedures on facility cleanliness and sanitation, with additional emphasis on high traffic areas, especially bathroom and waiting areas.

Safety and wellbeing remain our foremost priority, and we will continue to share updates with you as quickly and transparently as possible. – UBS Management Team

Here at Unique Background Solutions, we strive to stay up to date with the latest in developing products and services that can help further your confidence that you are able to make the best decisions when hiring or working with current employees to ensure a positive working environment.
